What has Novak Djokovic Said About Playing at the US Open 2020?
Ever since the 2020 US Open was confirmed, Novak Djokovic has been very critical about the event. This is because of the protocols that have been put in place to restrict the spread of the coronavirus.
Novak doesn’t seem too keen on these protocols. He said that it would be impossible to play with those restrictions and hinted at skipping the US Open to focus on clay-court events. Also, the revised schedule of the ATP Tour makes it very difficult for players to play every event since they were happening almost every week.
However, now, Novak might be inclined to play the US Open this year. This is because of the cancelation of the Madrid Open which was to start a day after the US Open.

Now that the Madrid Open is canceled, there is a week’s gap between the US Open and the next event. This will enable players to play the US Open and the other clay court events including the French Open.
In addition to this, Novak will be inclined to play the US Open for one more reason – the GOAT race. To win this race, he has to end up holding the record for the most Grand Slams. He is just three Slams away from equaling the current record.
