Apex Legends Season 5 introduced us to multiple new additions and changes. Those included Loba, the season quest, and changes to the terrain of Kings Canyon, among others. A new weapon was missing, though. But now, information has emerged that could shed light on a potential new weapon coming to Respawn’s battle royale in the future.

Popular Apex Legends content creator, The Gaming Merchant, has discussed the prospect of a new weapon in his latest YouTube video. This comes after credible Apex Legends data miner, Shrugtal, credited a Redditor for spotting the same weapon in the battle pass trailer video featuring the Attention to Detail skin for Wingman.

New grenade launcher coming to Apex Legends in Season 6?

In his video, The Gaming Merchant showed a brief moment from the trailer which displays the weapon. A DUMMIE is seen holding the EPG grenade launcher from Titanfall 2. Meanwhile, Shrugtal took extensive measures of his own to recreate the scene with the EPG and a DUMMIE. He provided additional insight and a better look at the weapon.

Shrugtal revealed the EPG was present in the game files from March 2019. He also pointed out that a weapon’s presence in the game files doesn’t necessarily confirm its arrival to the game.

According to him, the grenade launcher shown in the trailer is EPG-2, a successor of EPG-1 from Titanfall 2. The gun seemingly received a rework for Apex Legends. He also remarked that this could be the reason for the presence of the Explosive Ammo icon in the game files.

It is not the first time a trailer has teased a potential new weapon. The Gaming Merchant stated that in Crypto’s finisher video for Season 3, another DUMMIE appeared with the Sentinel. The developers eventually added the sniper rifle to the game. Furthermore, in another cinematic trailer, Pathfinder was spotted holding the Havoc rifle, which later made its way to the game.

Moreover, Season 5 is the first instance without a new weapon. So, it could possibly mean the EPG will likely make its way to Apex Legends in Season 6. Ultimately it is up to Respawn to incorporate new content into the game. Making new additions is a decision for the devs. Despite the evidence, nothing is certain yet. We’ll have to wait and watch if the EPG arrives in the future.

Meanwhile, The Gaming Merchant has featured Titanfall 2 gameplay with the EPG grenade launcher in his video linked above. Those interested can check it out.
