There will be changes in every team in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL). Four-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians are one of them who have recently welcomed their new member – Trent Boult as Delhi Capitals released the New Zealand speedster.
However, Mumbai Indians did not release any player in exchange yet. It can be understood that the New Zealand pacer earlier was bought by Mumbai as part of an all-cash deal, although it wasn’t confirmed so far whether Mumbai Indians paid any extra money for this, which Capitals did for Trent Boult in the auction of 2018. Mumbai Indians also drafted in the all-rounder Dhawal Kulkarni for the upcoming season, who has played for Mumbai in the domestic side throughout his life.
Mumbai Indians, however, were searching for a replacement for Australian left-arm fast bowler Jason Behrendorff who had been suffering from an injury earlier. As they wouldn’t get Lasith Malinga’s service in every match, Mumbai needed an experienced seam bowler who can do well with the new ball and at the death as well and also provides the early breakthroughs. The owner of Mumbai Indians, Aakash Ambani has shared his views as well where he said that Boult satisfied all the criteria which they were looking for.

We are delighted to have Trent Boult as part of the MI family. I am sure his experience across formats, especially in limited overs, will add value to our campaign.”
After joining the squad, Trent Boult shared a message for the whole team as well as their star player Jasprit Bumrah.
