The much anticipated IPL 2020 auction has been taking place in Kolkata on December 19th, 2019. Earlier 997 players were chosen but it has cut down to 332 now. Among these 186 players are Indian and 143 are overseas players and 3 players are from Associate Nations. The players like Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Chris Lynn, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Dale Steyn & Angelo Mathews have kept their reserve price of INR 2 crore.
Robin Uthappa is the only Indian who kept his base price of INR 1.5 crore while three other players – Piyush Chawla, Yusuf Pathan and Jaydev Unadkat have set their base price at INR 1 crore.
From the beginning, the hype was high for the Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. A tussle in biding was going on between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab for him where Punjab had the last laugh.

Maxwell sold for a Whopping 10.75 Crore to Kings XI Punjab. He didn’t take part in the last season of the tournament to focus on the ICC World Cup earlier this year. However, he took an indefinite break from cricket to deal with mental health issues in October but recently returned to action. He has joined her team Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League.
Glenn Maxwell, who is a vital cog for Australia, has played 61 T20Is so far where he has amassed 1576 runs which came at a strike rate of 160. Maxwell has also scored three tons and seven fifties for Australia in the shortest format of the game. He has played 69 matches in IPL so far where he has more than 1000 runs and 16 wickets in his name. His inclusion will strengthen the Punjab squad.
