The Indian Premier League governing council has released the shortlisted players who will participate in the upcoming players’ auction. The auction of the IPL 2020 will take place in Kolkata on December 19, 2019, and it will stat at 15:30 IST. They have shortened the players from 997 to 332 which includes a total of 186 Indians, 143 overseas and 3 players from Associate nations.

Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Chris Lynn, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Dale Steyn, and Angelo Mathews have been shortlisted for the upcoming IPL auction at the highest base price of INR 2 crore. Among the overseas players, nine players have set a base price of Rs 1.5 Crore, while 20 players have set a base price of Rs 1 Crore.

Robin Uthappa, the former Kolkata Knight Riders player is the only Indian to set his base price at INR 1.5 crore. Piyush Chawla, Yusuf Pathan, and Jaydev Unadkat are the other Indian players who have set their base price at INR 1 crore. The foreign players who have set the base price of INR 1.5 crore for IPL 2020 auction are — Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, Chris Morris, Chris Woakes, Adam Zampa, Shaun Marsh, David Willey, Kane Richardson, and Kyle Abbott.

From the associate nations, USA’s Ali Khan has set his base price at INR 20 lakh, along with the pacer of UAE, Zahoor Khan and left-handed Scotland batsman George Munsey. The final list also includes 19 Indian capped players and 24 new players who were added after the franchises request. However, this is being a small auction, as a total of 73 spots will be filled by the eight franchises, of which 29 spots are for the overseas players.

Earlier, the news came that Australia pacer Mitchell Starc has opted out of the Indian Premier League for the second successive year whereas his teammates Glenn Maxwell and Chris Lynn are among seven players who have listed their names in the player’s auction.
