The Delhi Daredevils‘ dream run in IPL 2018 came to a rude awakening after the Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated them by 6 wickets. After winning 2 of the last 3 matches, the franchise were high on confidence. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and the Sunrisers did just that.
Delhi chose to bat first and straight away, opener Prithvi Shaw rocketed away and became their top scorer. Unfortunately, his partner Glenn Maxwell fell for just 2 runs from 3 balls. Then skipper Shreyas Iyer joined the party and notched up a decent partnership with Shaw. Sadly, Iyer would fall short of a half century by 6 runs, courtesy a Siddarth Kaul delivery and Shikhar Dhawan’s hands. Rishabh Pant also went down fairly early, having scored 18 runs before being trapped by a Rashid Khan delivery.
Naman Ojha was dismissed cheaply and Shaw would fall eventually, but not before scoring a well-played 65 runs. Vijay Shankar and Dan Christian managed to stabilise the innings and see it through till the end. They posted 163 runs on the board and SRH’s target was set.

When the Sunrisers came out to the crease, they showed no mercy. Their openers, Alex Hales and Shikhar Dhawan came out like bats out of hell. Hales managed to reach 45 runs until Amit Mishra snagged his wicket, just 5 runs short of a half-century. Dhawan was also sent back to the dressing room and it was that man Amit Mishra again with a well-placed delivery. Manish Pandey was the last man out with Liam Plunkett and Prithvi Shaw teaming up to take the wicket. Shaw was not letting go of the catch in a hurry.

The remaining batsman, Kane Williamson, was joined by Yusuf Pathan and the two remained at the crease until they passed the target and won the match. Williamson ended the night with a score of 32 while Pathan has 27 runs to his name.
In the bowling department, Siddharth Kaul was the most expensive bowler for SRH with an economy of 9.25 and 37 runs and picking up 1 wicket. Rashid Khan was more economical with an average of 5.75 and 2 wickets, conceding 23 runs.

But in the end, the Sunrisers Hyderabad won and moved to the top of the IPL 2018 table.
