Bangladesh have been going through a tough time in the middle in the ongoing first Test against India where they were bundled out for 150 in the first innings because of stunning bowling from Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and others. Following that, India put up a huge total of 493 for 6 (declared) in their first innings on the back of a couple of the fifties from Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja and a beautiful double-century from opener Mayank Agarwal.

However, Bangladesh required a solid start with the bat to keep their hope alive of saving the game. However, Indian pacers did not let them succeed in their plan. Umesh Yadav provided India with the early breakthrough by dismissing Imrul Kayes in the sixth over before veteran Ishant Sharma bowled Shadman Islam with a cracking delivery to leave Bangladesh struggling at 16 for 2.

It was a superb delivery from Ishant Sharma. The ball pitched outside the off-stump and nicked back sharply, leaving Shadman totally clueless. Although the opener did play for the swing, he was a bit late to hit the ball. In the meantime, the ball passed through the gap and hit the top of middle stump. His dismissal made his side’s condition worst as they started struggling in the middle within 3 days of the game.

At the time of writing this report, Bangladesh have lost all their wickets as Mohammed Shami?bagged 3 wickets while Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 2 each. Their economical bowling left no stone unturned to be successful on their plans.

Meanwhile, with this win, India, remains at the top of the ICC World Test Championship by earning more points. Having won all of their five games so far, the hosts were favourites here too. Currently, the focus will be on the second Test which will be the first-ever day-night Test between India and Bangladesh, starting from November 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
