It’s official! Probably one of the fiercest rivalry of world cricket will be back in action. The two cricketing giants, Australia and India, will yet again lock horns, this time in the shorter formats of the game. Australia will be hosting India for a 5-match ODI series and a 3-match T20 series in Jan 2016.
The last time these two teams faced each other, it was the grandest stage of international cricket, the ICC CWC 2015 semi-final where the hosts beat the defending champions at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The historic match was seen by a record 300 million fans on Star TV and the Australian cricket board wishes to build on the rivalry.

Following the success in the World Cup, Cricket Australia general manager Mike McKenna said, “We want to build on this great momentum. Following the World Cup, we are determined that local Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Afghan, Sri Lankan and other overseas-born fans who packed Australia’s grounds with good-humoured noise and colour are able to maintain their passion for cricket as part of their adopted Australian lifestyles.”
This will be the second consecutive year that India will be touring Down Under. They played a 4-Test series against Australia in 2014/15 followed by a tri-series involving England as well.
