Rafael Nadal On Being the Flag Bearer In 2016
In a recent video by the Spanish Olympic Committee, many flag bearers were asked about their experience being one. Nadal was one of them and he said,
“My personal experience at the Olympic Games has always been incredible and, obviously, being a flag bearer in Rio is an unforgettable moment. I was really excited and it was an incredible experience. The fact of being able to share that moment with all my teammates, with the entire Spanish delegation, is difficult to describe. “
The Spaniard went on to compare this experience with a different experience at the Olympics. He said,
“If the energy you feel when you go out there in the middle of any opening ceremony of the Games is indescribable, imagine the fact that you were the first to represent your country. Very happy to have had that opportunity, which I enjoyed to the fullest. Hopefully, the next ones that come can enjoy it just the same.”

Rafa obviously loved being a flag bearer at the 2016 Rio Olympics. However, his favorite memory of the event would probably be when he won a gold medal in doubles. This was in addition to the gold medal he won back in 2008 in the singles category.
