During the third day of the ongoing third Test between India and South Africa in Ranchi, India speedster Umesh Yadav bowled a deadly bouncer to South Africa opener Dean Elgar which hit him in the helmet. It took place on the third ball of the 10th over when Yadav’s delivery Elgar failed to understand as he was hit right in the middle of his helmet. He immediately fell down and got up after receiving medical attention.
However, it was the same reason, umpires decided to take an early tea break. After that Elgar has retired hurt as all-rounder George Linde walked in to bat alongside wicket-keeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen in the last session of the innings.
According to the report, Dean Elgar has been sent to a hospital for a concussion test. With South Africa already four wickets down, they certainly want him to bat again if they lose a couple of wickets again. However, depending on his health status, South Africa can also go for another concussion substitute in place of Elgar.

Oh that's awful, Elgar's been hit hard on the helmet by a short ball from Yadav. They'll take tea. But this doesn't look good.

India pace bowling has been story for me this series. They have brought seam, a bit of swing, relentless accuracy and menace, both with the new and the old ball #INDvSA

Gets worse for South Africa. Elgar can't resume his innings so it is Klassen and Linde already. Maybe it is effectively 26-5 but more important, hope Elgar recovers soon.
