Spain’s David Ferrer had a bright career as a player. He won nearly everything that was there for taking in the sport, except a Grand Slam title. If there ever was a player who knocked on the doors of ‘the big 4’, it was him. Even though David wasn’t the biggest man on tour, he was still considered a threat in the men’s game. Interestingly, the last match of Ferrer’s career came against his current pupil. Talking about the relationship he shares with Zverev, he said, “I knew him from having played against him and later in confinement he called me again and finally we made the opportunity.”
