“I’m Sorry for Whatever I’ve Done”- Nick Kyrgios Responds to Alexander Zverev

Earlier, Alexander Zverev attempted to get a rise out of temperamental rival, Nick Krygios. However, in a surprising show of maturity, Kyrgios refused to be baited into a meltdown. Ahead of the Australian Open 2020, Zverev took a pot shot at the local man and said, “There’s a lot of young guys that are right now, no offence, just better than him,”.

Kyrgios’ reaction was far more mellow compared to a couple of weeks ago against Zverev himself. At the ATP Cup, Kyrgios performed some push-ups on the side of the court every time Zverev served a double fault against Alex de Minaur.

Did Nick Kyrgios make a New Year’s resolution to improve his attitude?

A classic Nick Kyrgios response would have seen the Australian trolling Zverev right back. However this time, the world No 30 chose to avoid getting into a row. Instead he attempted to end the ‘alleged’ feud with an apology directed at the German.

“I’m not going to entertain that too much,” Kyrgios said. “With everything going on, that’s the least of my worries.”

The Australian praised Zverev and insisted that he was a great player. However, he confessed that he was puzzled by the harsh comments uttered by the 22-year old. He then dismissed the comments and suggested that Alex Zverev, probably didn’t mean it in a derogatory manner.

Regardless, he said, “But if he did, then I’m sorry for whatever I’ve done to you. I mean, I’m not going to entertain that too much.”

Admittedly, the 24-year-old was deeply affected by the devastating bushfires raging in Australia. Nick Kyrgios pledged that he will donate $200 to a relief fund for every ace he serves throughout the Australian Open 2020.

Speaking of the opening Grand Slam, the tournament is set to commence on January 20th. Kyrgios is set to face Lorenzo Sonego on the 21st in his opening round clash.
