“The Diamond” Dustin Poirier remains in the top 5 of the Lightweight division at UFC. And apparently, he’s looking to make his comeback to the Octagon as soon as he can.
The #3 Lightweight last fought in September 2019 where he lost his Interim Title in a title unification bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov. Khabib emerged the victor in the third round via rear-naked choke submission.
However, he is eager to get back into the Octagon and fight again. In a Tweet, he wrote, “We aren’t living in proper times. I want to fight.”

Evidently, Dustin is aching to get back into the Octagon. But here’s the crux. There is not a lot of fighters in the top 5 that are available for fighting Dustin as soon as he wants to. While Gaethje and Khabib are looking to square off in a title bout in September, Tony Ferguson will need a little more time to recuperate from his last loss. Moreover, Conor McGregor seemingly has his hands full with an abundance of likely opponents.
This leaves the #5, Dan Hooker. Hooker is coming fresh off a victory over Felder and is the best-suited opponent for Dustin Poirier. However, “The Hangman” is in New Zealand, and it might not be possible for him to come to fight island amidst the coronavirus.
