Dana White has promised weekly fights as he attempts to bring normalcy into the world by restarting regular sports. However, the UFC President may only be able to achieve his goal with fighters based in the United States. This is because travel restrictions have grounded a plethora of International Fighters.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is a high profile pullout UFC 249. Justin Gaethje will take his place against Tony Ferguson with the duo competing for the Interim Lightweight Championship. Travel Restrictions could disrupt UFC 250 too. The main event is set to feature Jose Aldo against Henry Cejudo for the Bantamweight title. However, Aldo may be stuck in Brazil leaving ‘The Messenger’ without an opponent.

Could we see Dominick Cruz fight Henry Cejudo?

Dominick Cruz has volunteered to full in against the 3rd ranked pound-for-pound fighter and take the Bantamweight title fight. He said to Ariel Helwani, “that’s what I’ve been asking for for a long time.”

‘The Dominator’ has not fought since 2016 where he lost the title to Cody Grambandt. However, he could make his long-awaited return to the Octagon next month if contenders Aldo and Petr Yan are unable to make fly to the United States. It would be a fairytale return for ‘The Dominator’ who has had 2 comebacks derailed due to injuries. First in 2017 and later in 2019.

“Since they can’t come in, it opens up a slot for me to slide in there and I’ll always take a fight with the title. That’s what we do this for. You slide in there and take the title shot right when it’s there. And realistically with Aldo and Yan out why wouldn’t I take it,” said Cruz who even fired a shot at ‘The Messenger’ ahead of a potential fight.

“I believe Henry has a habit of saying things just to get hype to have people talking about him”– Dominick Cruz

‘The Messenger’ has been taking shots at Aldo over the last few weeks. He would have been training for Aldo too.  Will he respond to a challenge by ‘The Dominator’? Could we see Cruz get a high profile fight out of the blue akin to Gaethje?
