Ilkay Gundogan’s decision to leave Borussia Dortmund, could halt Manchester United’s move to get Matt Hummels on board.
With Gundogan already refusing to sign a new deal at BVB, he may well be out of contract at end of this season. Reports claim that the mid-fielder is most likely to join rivals Byern Munich, with keen interest shown from both parties.
But Borussia Dortmund has a long standing policy of allowing only one star player to leave each summer.

This could lead to the German club refusing to sell Matt Hummels, who has a contract till 2017.
The only hope United have is the departure of Jurgen Klopp, which could lead to some relaxation in the stance of the club in order to give incoming coach Thomas Tuchel more room to reshape a squad that is currently ninth in the Bundesliga with three games remaining.
Van Gaal was keen to sign the 26-year-old centre-back last summer, only for Dortmund to knock back his interest having already lost Robert Lewandowski to Bayern Munich.
