It seems that the speculation around a fifth map coming to Valorant Act 3 was spot on. The official Twitter account of the game has announced the arrival of ‘Icebox’, a tundra map on its way to the game. Take a look at the complete reveal below:

From the preview, it seems that the map is set near some kind of frozen port, with multiple ships in the frozen water. Additionally, there wasn’t much shown about the lanes and the number of bomb sites on the map. It is possible that the map actually has 3 bombsites, even though it seems highly unlikely.

There are a lot of containers scattered all over the map that will enable some close-counter combat to take place. The setting also seems pretty tight with less breathing space, but it remains to be seen if it is actually true.

The map does look pretty ‘cool’ (had to be done). This now takes the tally of maps in Valorant up to 5. Additionally, this comes at a time when the game was in dire need of a new map. Players have been tired of having to play the same 4 maps over and over. Hopefully, Icebox will be a respite for them.

Competitive changes and new agent coming to Act 3

It will be interesting to see how fans receive the map. Considering the fact that any new map takes some time to get accustomed to, it remains to be seen what Icebox brings to the table. Additionally, with the recent changes made to the competitive ranked mode, Act 3 already looks quite promising.

There are significant changes made to ranked progressing and competitive matchmaking, which shows that the developers are listening to the players’ feedback.

In addition to this, there has already been some speculation regarding a new healer agent coming to the game. It will be interesting to see what the fans get, considering Sage was recently nerfed to balance things out. Read more about this upcoming agent here.

Lastly, this map is great news for Valorant Esports. The competitive setting definitely needed a new map in the mix and looks like the fans finally got it. This is just one of the many things coming along with Act 3, so keep watching this space for further updates.
