Coming to the Sri Lankan team, the nation has been fairly successful in terms of the World Cup. The Lankan Lions stormed Cricket World Cup glory back in 1996, defeating the mighty Australians.

During their entire World Cup campaign through the years, Sri Lanka had only managed to reach the group stages. This lasted up until their shock triumph in 1996. From then onwards, the highest, that Sri Lanka had ever been was when they were semifinalists in 2003 and later, were runners up in 2007 and 2011.

Captain and Vice Captain

Dimuth Karunaratne has been chosen to lead the pride of Lankan Lions in the World Cup 2019. Filling in the Vice Captain role will be Dhananjaya de Silva, and they will be eager to bring back home a 2nd trophy to fill their cabinet.

Batsmen

The Sri Lanka team for the World Cup 2019 consists of a batting fire power of skipper Karunaratne, Avishka Fernando and Lahiru Thirimanne.

Wicketkeeper

Their main pick for wicketkeeper is Kusal Perera. However, Kusal Mendis will be the backup keeper for the tournament.

Allrounders
