Shikhar Dhawan will at least miss India’s next 2 matches at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 due to a fracture on his left-hand thumb. The left-handed opener announced his arrival at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as he played a winning innings of 117 runs against Australia on Sunday.

However, Shikhar Dhawan injured his thumb during his 109 balls innings as he tried to defend a bouncer delivery. Though he continued to bat after the injury scare, he didn’t come out to field in the second innings. Later it was announced that Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 for 3 weeks.

Shikhar Dhawan suffering from an injury during the biggest tournament of cricket shared an inspiring Shayari, in the midst of difficulties.

The meaning of the Shayari goes like this, “Sometimes, we fly like the sweet scent of a rose, sometimes, we float like the mountain mist

These scissors? Are they going to stop us from flying…It’s our determination that gives us flight, not our wings.”

Shikhar Dhawan will miss India’s next two matches against New Zealand and Pakistan as of now. He will mostly be replaced by Dinesh Karthik or Vijay Shankar with KL Rahul moving up the order to open the innings with Rohit Sharma. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant is also called up from India which could be a possible replacement for Shikhar Dhawan in the worst case scenario, if he rules out if the tournament.

With Shikhar Dhawan out of the playing 11, Team India still looks strong. However, losing Dhawan will certainly impact the team as he is one of the most impactful players in the team.
