Ravindra Jadeja starts his first game for India in the 2019 Cricket World Cup as India play against Sri Lanka for their final clash in the league stage. “Jadeja and Kuldeep come in place of Chahal and Shami,” a tweet from BCCI’s official twitter handle read.
India have won 6 out of their 8 matches in the World Cup so far, with a match being washed out and the the match against England ending up in a loss. India have already qualified for semi-finals and are experimenting a little with their team dynamics. A win against Sri Lanka can give them the top position at least until Australia play their final match.

Even though Jadeja hasn’t been in the playing XI for any of the games so far, he has come in as a substitute fielder on many occasions and made a significant impact on the game showing why he is one of the best fielders around.

His selection also raises a few eyebrows from the media box. Few days back, Jadeja’s twitter account saw a controversial tweet slamming former Indian cricketer turned broadcaster without any specific context. Jadeja had called Manjrekar’s commentary as verbal diarrhoea referring to Manjrekar’s twitter handle.

Though Jadeja mentioned no context, it is understood that Jadeja took to Manjrekar’s previous comments when he called Jadeja as a “bits and pieces” cricketer. The Saurashtra all-rounder had used strong words against the Mumbaikar who is known to go overly into criticizing players while doing his job. Manjrekar is yet to reply to this strong dig at him.
Sanjay Manjrekar is one of the commentators in the ICCs panel and will be a part of the commentary team for this match. Television volumes will be high when Manjrekar is in the commentary box and people will stick their ears to the speakers if and when he says,” Ravindra Jadeja is into the attack.”
