The most awaited match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 match is upon us as India faces arch-rivals Pakistan in a high-voltage match at Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday.

The two teams will meet each other for the 128th time in the ODIs with Pakistan leading their head-to-head 73-54. However, India leads the head-to-head against the ‘Green Army’ at the ICC Cricket World Cup with a perfect record of 6-0.

ICC Cricket World Cup 1992, Australia

India won the match by 43 runs as the ‘Men in Blue’ scored 216 runs in 49 overs, losing 7 wickets. Pakistan, on the other hand, was bowled out at 173 in 48.1 overs.

Thanks to Sachin Tendulkar‘s unbeaten 54 runs in 62 balls, India could put a good score on board when they were struggling after 101 for 3. It Manoj Prabhakar, Kapil and Javagal Srinath who did the job with the ball as all picked two wickets each.

ICC Cricket World Cup 1996, India

India won the match by 39 runs after putting a score of 287 runs in 50 overs, losing 8 wickets before stopping Pakistan at 248 runs.

Navjot Sidhu played the anchoring role as he opened the innings for India and scores 93 valuable runs for his team. Ajay Jadeja’s 45 off just 25 balls cameo was the cherry on the cake. Venkatesh Prasad and Anil Kumble took 3 wickets each to derail the Pakistani chase on their home ground in Bangalore.

ICC Cricket World Cup 1999, England

India won the third consecutive match against Pakistan at the ICC Cricket World Cup as they defeated their arch-rivals by 49 runs. India scored 227 runs losing 6 wickets in 50 overs. Pakistan, in reply, could manage to score only 180 runs as they were bowled out in 45.4 overs.

Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Azharuddin registered their half-centuries to put a respectable score on board for their team. However, it was Venkatesh Prasad who ripped through the Pakistani innings. Prasad took 5 for 27 in his 9.3 overs.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2003, South Africa

India chasing for the first time against Pakistan at the ICC Cricket World Cup won the match comfortably with 6 wickets as the ‘Men in Blue’ chased down a high score of 273 runs.

Batting first, Pakistan posted a high score on the board with the help of Anwar’s century. However, Sachin Tendulkar scored a splendid 98 runs in just 75 balls in reply to help his team chase down a tough target.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, India

The ‘Men in Blue’ won the high-voltage semifinal match against Pakistan in Mohali by 29 runs. India posted a decent score of 260 runs in 50 overs with the help of Sachin Tendulkar’s crucial 85 runs knock.

However, the bowling unit came out on the field with a clear plan as they bowled out ‘The Green Army’ in 231 runs.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Australia

India put a high score of 300 runs on board batting first with the help of Virat Kohli‘s century and Shikar Dhawan’s 73 runs knock with Suresh Raina’s quickfire of 74 runs.

Mohammad Shami ripping through the Pakistani innings led the Indian bowling line up as India won the match by 76 runs.
