The Swiss star Roger Federer is all set to take part in a mega encounter with Rafael Nadal in Cape Town. Proceeds from the event will go to the Roger Federer Foundation.
Therefore, it involves celebrities like Trevor Noah and Bill Gates who’ll be teaming up with Rafael Nadal and Federer respectively before the two stars collide in singles competition.
Interestingly, the place holds special significance in Roger’s heart because of his mother, Lynette. His mother is South African and Roger used to visit the place during his vacations.

Federer was ecstatic about finally playing in South Africa. It is no small deal as a crowd of 50,000 will pack the stadium. This is what Roger Federer had to say –
“I’m happy that it’s taking place in South Africa, a place that I have come to as a child. I think it’s going to be quite emotional, to be honest, as I wanted to play in South Africa for many, many years. I can’t believe it’s taken this long, but I’m fortunate enough to make it happen while I’m still active on the tour.”

“I love having people around and being a good host, and that’s what I’ve learned a lot from my mom. She is tough but fair. She’s been a great mom. I’ve enjoyed my vacations here as a little boy, and I wished I could’ve come here more often over the last 20 years. But you know, time on the road is tough. Every extra trip you do, it feels like it’s maybe a mistake and then I’m not doing them.”
Roger Federer’s mother having South African descent is one of the major reasons behind the trip. It’s great to see the Swiss star taking tennis to new places at the end of his career.
