World No.2 Rafael Nadal is a real ‘melophile’, a person who loves music. The Spaniard can’t travel and sit idle without his music. He has his preferences and just one genre that he doesn’t like.
In a recent conversation with GQ Magazine, Nadal spoke about his musical interests. He can almost listen to anything. He is fond of classical music and can also tune into pop or rock music next.

“I can listen opera, I can listen classic music, pop, rock. It is true that electronic music is not my one that is the only music I can’t. But the rest of the things depends on the moment, depends of the mood you are in.”
Turns out, electronic music is the only music genre that Nadal can’t listen to. Rest his playlist has a wide variety of artists, from the pop artist, Dua Lipa to the classical composer, Mozart.

Furthermore, speaking on music, he admitted he enjoys music on his phone and carries his wireless earphone buds wherever he goes.
“I have my iPods. With me, almost all the time, because when you are on the plane, just before the matches usually with music because I like almost everything.”

Nadal has strong connections with the music industry. Back in 2010, he featured in Colombian pop star, Shakira’s song, Gypsy. The song, sung and co-written by Shakira, had Nadal as her love interest. Unsurprisingly, it received good responses from critics and fans of the pop star and Rafa Nadal.
“I thought that maybe I needed someone I could in some way identify with. And Rafael Nadal is a person who has been totally committed to his career since he was very young, since he was 17, I believe,” Shakira had said on why she chose Nadal.

Nadal is currently taking a break of sorts from the tour because of the back injury that troubled him in the build-up to the Australian Open 2021. It is unsure where we could see the Spaniard next. Rafa could play Miami Open or could now straight away be seen on clay.
