The most common way for a streamer to earn money other than sponsorships or collaborations is donations. Viewers have the option to donate money to their favorite streamers on almost all the streaming platforms. While this may be common knowledge, there are a few streamers who are not accepting or putting a cap on their donations. Now, popular YouTuber PewDiePie has followed suit as he announced that he won’t accept any more donations on his stream.

In his recent stream, Pewds announced that he will no longer accept donations. He also had some reasons behind it.
“Yeah I decided I don’t wanna accept more donations. I appreciate just the chatting. It was actually when I did my donating to Twitch streamer video that made me realise just how weird it is to donate money to people.
“Like if someone gave me money on the street I’ll be like “WTF no I’m not gonna take that. Like for some reason it’s like “Yeah, pay me. Give me the money. $500? Just give me that s***. F*** yeah” I don’t get it, it just makes no sense. I’m no judging other people doing it, I’m just saying from my perspective it doesn’t make sense. So, I’m no accepting it. I don’t think I need it.”
Pokimane capped her donations at $5
Recently, Pokimane had announced something similar where she capped her donations at $5. She also urged her followers to donate to small streamers and help them grow. Although, the community was not happy about it and she faced a lot of backlash for her decision.

Last year, popular streamer Disguised Toast had also announced that he won’t accept any more donations.
Decided to remove Donations/Bits from my channel.
Always feel bad when I end the stream and realize I didn't acknowledge someone's dono because I got too focused on the game.
Give your money to charity or a smaller streamer instead, SINCE I'M RICH ALREADY WOOOHOO!

PewDiePie is the world’s biggest YouTuber. He started his YouTuber career by streaming Call of Duty in his early days. Now, almost a decade later, he has decided to stop accepting donations for his streams.
Additionally, he also mentions how it ‘doesn’t make sense’ to him, which is justified as he is just giving his perspective on it. A lot of the fans may not be happy with this, but it seems Pewds has made up his mind. It’ll be interesting to see how the community reacts to this since Pokimane got a lot of undeserved hate regarding her decision.
