Boxing prodigy Shakur Stevenson headlined boxing’s return, in what was ESPN’S first event since the pandemic started. Stevenson secured the victory convincingly against Felix Caraballo.
Shakur threw a series of devastating body shots, before securing the victory in round 6 via TKO. Stevenson described the tactics he employed after the fight. As he was unable to attack Caraballo’s face, body shots soon became his biggest weapon.
He rocked Caraballo with a vicious right hand to the body, before a clean left hook to the body ended the fight. After the fight, Stevenson opened up on the unique experience. He revealed he had to be isolated and opened up on the weight cut process.

“Training was different”-Shakur Stevenson
“He opened up wide and I caught him between his punch, caught him right in the middle of the shot. I came here to get him out of there. And I hit him with everything I could early. I wobbled him a bunch of times. He took a lot of punishment and I started wondering whether the headshots weren’t going to get him out of there so I started going to the body. It’s a different atmosphere. Losing the weight was different, training was different. I couldn’t be around nobody and even fighting without a crowd where you catch him with a shot and don’t hear oohs and ahhs is different,” said Stevenson
Shakur Stevenson has been touted as the next big thing and is seen as the new Floyd Mayweather in the making. Both men share similarities, due to their reasonably small frame, and creativity and defensive skills in the ring.
However, Stevenson said he’s a completely different fighter to Mayweather and shouldn’t be looked at as the next Floyd.

“Floyd and I are two different fighters. I feel like we have two different styles. And I stole things from his game, but I stole things from Terence Crawford, Pernell Whitaker, and Andre Ward. But I appreciate all of the comparisons and it’s a huge compliment, but I’m my own fighter. I’m the first Shakur Stevenson,” said Shakur
Shakur Stevenson has been touted for great things, and fans are waiting to see who he fights next.
