A number of people within the fashion industry view Gisele Bündchen as a role model, and for a good reason. The forty-two-year-old supermodel has showcased pure class and elegance in whichever project she took under her wing. She has handled the situation like a champ, even concerning mortifying details about her private life. In her memoir, she gave away some secrets to control her emotions.

Her recent separation from NFL legend Tom Brady was a whirlwind of a scenario, but Bündchen has been an astute example of dealing with the controversies and most importantly protecting her kids from the wildfire. But was she always this fearless? Her memoir, published back in 2018, shed some light on the struggles she faced as a young adult and how she eventually learned to conquer her fears.

Sharing a nerve-wracking experience from her early life, Gisele Bündchen gave some insights into a night she was invited as a guest speaker at a rock festival. Accompanied by her sister, Gisele was supposed to give a speech but her nerves got the better of her. Funnily enough, making matters worse, her sister suggested singing ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon as a perfect conclusion.

As Bündchen recalls in her memoirs, “The night of the festival, my emotions were all over the place. Before I went onstage, the woman in charge of the event tried to be helpful. She told me, “Don’t worry, even Bono and Coldplay get nervous when they play here.” Funny, but hearing that only made me more nervous. So I took a moment for myself. I closed my eyes.

I took the time to create an intention. I asked God, Please allow the audience to feel what I’m feeling. Let them feel my heart. I wanted to connect with them. I wanted them to feel that we are all connected, all one. It gave me a rush, a strength, and the confidence I needed to go on. Then I went out on the big stage,” she wrote.

The power of the collective

Gisele dished out a perfect speech but she couldn’t finish it alone. She needed someone to stand by her side, and who better than another successful woman to support her?

“I talked for several minutes. I didn’t talk about Amazon, or about mining, or about any other problems facing the country. Instead, I talked about the power of the collective, about hope, and about all of us standing together. At one point my emotions overtook me, and I started crying. Then Ivete appeared. She gave me a big hug and started singing. She’d asked me to sing with her, and though I hadn’t planned on it-I’d felt too shy-when the moment came, I couldn’t help it,” she wrote.
