The Ubisoft Forward event gave us insight into a lot of upcoming projects from the studio. Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Watch Dogs Legion were the highlights of the main event. But, we also got additional information on Ubisoft’s latest battle royale game Hyper Scape.

The game launched its closed beta version in the form of Twitch drops a few days ago. The initial trailer and gameplay reveal showed us exactly what to expect in terms of gameplay and the overall experience. One of the main purposes of the game was to bring verticality to battle royale and looks like it does a pretty good job of it.

Hyper Scape Creative Director’s words on the game

The event had the game’s Creative Director J.C. Guyot speak to us about developing the game from scratch. He says “The game is based in 2054. It is in the future where humanity has grown a little darker.”

One of the companies in the future is launching ‘Hyper Scape’ which is a virtual world or the internet of the future. And that is where the battle royale takes place in the city of Neo Arcadia.

He also mentions how they introduced different aspects to the game like hot drop locations for more intense combat experience. They also introduced special abilities called ‘hacks’ which allow you to teleport or build a wall or turn into a giant ball. The most interesting part is where everyone will be able to interact with the game through the Twitch extension. This will allow the spectators to make decisions that will affect the gameplay.

Towards the end of the video, he thanked the developers, the testers, and everyone who participated in the closed beta.

Hyper Scape promises to bring a battle royal experience that is fast-paced, has a lot more verticality, and also requires strategic planning to dominate the game. It joins a long list of Battle Royale games like PUBG, Call Of Duty Warzone and Apex Legends.

The game is now available for download as an open beta. Ubisoft has also announced that more news will come in a second Ubisoft Forward event soon. Stay tuned for more updates on the same.
