South Korean player Hyeon Chung will be riding on a high at the Australian Open. The 21-year old managed to defeat former world number 1, Novak Djokovic in straight sets. It wasn’t an easy matchup as Chung was stretched to two tie-breaks in the 1st and 3rd sets. He also won the 2nd set 7-5. Lady Luck was smiling on the South Korean as Djokovic began to struggle with his elbow injury. But that doesn’t take away anything from the youngster. Here is how Twitter reacted to Chung’s victory.

If at First you don’t succeed, Try again
In 2016, 19 y/o Hyeon Chung played Djokovic for the first time. It was like a dream to play his idol despite losing in straight sets. Two years later they met again but this time he beat his idol – in straight sets. THIS is the dream, son. Inspiring. #AusOpen

It was Worth it
Chung took 6 weeks out over wimbledon last year – made some technical adjustments and grip changes. Think they’ve paid off!

It’s Like Looking in a Mirror
Courier: “How do you hit those shots? It’s like watching Novak but it’s you."
Chung: “I don’t know! When I was young I just tried to copy Novak because he’s my idol.”

Looking at the Bigger Picture
In Korean, Chung thanked people in Korea who were staying up late to watch and mentioned that it's not over yet and that he hopes to give them more to cheer for on Wednessday. 🙂 #AusOpen

Amazing performance by Hyeon Chung. So calm, so quick, so good. Two great stories with Sandgren and Chung to play for a spot in the semi's. Looking forward to it already!

And how about Tennessee Vol Tennys Sandgren?! Melbourne is a looong way from Rocky Top, but the 26 y-o achieved an improbable dream here to reach QF. So chilled & crafty on court. 👏🏻👏🏻Sandgren v Chung is among the least likely slam QF EVER! How fun.

On the camera in Korean, Chung wrote “Are you all watching”

Djokovic: Chung can be a Top 10 player, he’s improved physically a lot, he’s hard-working and a really nice guy. Yes, our games are a lot alike. #AusOpen

I think Novak was fine playing in the AO. We shouldn’t be making excuses. He won the previous rounds exceptionally and in the match against Chung – he play the best he could. Don’t take anything away from #Chung – he played great to beat Novak.
