Our medical team will continue to monitor his rehabilitation and progress during pre-season.

Lloris, aged 28, has been the number one man between the sticks for the north London team after a shaky start into his career with Spurs. An experienced player, he has played 122 times for Tottenham in all competitions in the last three seasons. He is the current captain of the French national team with 67 caps.

The 2014/15 season saw Lloris perform as one of the most consistent players in the club. He helped the club finish 5 in the league with a 64 points total. The current situation regarding Lloris could prove to be a long term blessing in disguise for Tottenham. With their number one set to miss the start of the season at the very least, Michel Vorm will deputise in goal. The 31-year-old Dutch international is a fine back up and has racked up some fine displays during his time with Swansea City. Tottenham open up their 2015/16 Premier League campaign with an away game at Old Trafford on 8 August. Vorm would need to be on top of his game to outperform his injured colleague.

The injury, if taken in a different light, will be a long term blessing for Tottenham. With David de Gea’s possible departure getting more likely day by day (even more so, given that Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas left the club), Lloris is one of the few names linked with a move to Old Trafford. Signing an injured player is always a risk most clubs try to avoid and this might derail any possible deal for him. However, with Asmir Begovic signing for Chelsea & Victor Valdes set to leave Old Trafford for Turkey (according to various media reports), there are very few available keepers for United to look at. Hence, Lloris seems like the biggest transfer prospect for United as of now.
