Hubert Hurkacz finally advanced further to his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at Wimbledon Championships 2021. He got a brilliant five-set victory over World No.2 Daniil Medvedev in a rain-hit match. He now will play one of his toughest matches against Roger Federer at the famous Centre Court.
In his post-match interview, Hurkacz spoke about the prospect of playing Federer at Wimbledon. He called Federer’s journey inspirational. And all the titles won by Federer have inspired the Polish player.

“Roger what he does, the way he plays and the titles he’s won throughout his whole career has inspired so many people.”
Moreover, Hurkacz will play Federer in the Centre Court with a packed crowd. It will be hard for him to find support as the crowd adores Federer. But he is looking forward to the battle and hopes to get support from the fans. Hurkacz said: “You guys enjoy watching him as well, it’ll be a fun battle. I’ll be hoping to get a little bit of support.”
Hurkacz’s match against Medvedev started yesterday but couldn’t be completed because of rain. Later it was shifted to the next day on the Centre Court. Hurkacz was the one to begin the match on a strong note and surprised Medvedev.
Roger Federer on Hubert Hurkacz not having an extra day
As Hurkacz’s match was delayed he will not get a free day, unlike Federer. Hurkacz plays Federer the day after his match against Medvedev and that could play out differently. When Federer completed his win over Lorenzo Sonego he was asked about his next opponent’s recovery. But the Swiss exercised his funny bone and said that the young players won’t mind playing the delayed match.

?These guys are young, they can recover. It?s not a problem for them. Unfortunately, they?re very good too. Hopefully it rains again tomorrow! I?m kidding?,?said Federer.
It will be interesting to see how Hurkacz does against Federer. He served brilliantly against Medvedev and if Federer can’t trouble his serves, then the Swiss master could be in a spot of bother.
