Dana White had claimed Francis Ngannou would never come back

UFC president Dana White had claimed that Ngannou would never return to the UFC. The claims after negotiations with Ngannou and the UFC over a new contract fell through. At the time of his exit, Ngannou was on a six-fight winning streak. According to Dana White, the negotiations had been going on for a while. Ngannou’s exit meant Jon Jones had to face a new contender. Ciryl Gane got that opportunity but was easily brushed aside by Jon Jones. This left the door for a Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou fight.
