Manchester United defender Phil Jones, apparently found himself free when the ball was played into the box. He sensed the opportunity to go for an extra-ordinary bicycle kick instead of an ordinary header. But it looked extra-ordinary only until the ball had left the foot. Unfortunately for him, Phil Jones’ overhead attempt was blocked by his own hand. The referee, signalling a handball, awarded a free kick to the opposition.

On June 13, 2011, Manchester United confirmed the signing of a 19 year old Jones, who had impressed Sir Alex Ferguson. The legendary United manager had predicted that Jones could become one of the most famous stars at Old Trafford. But this is not what he had meant by famous. Jones is many times recalled rather hilariously for his funny expressions and slip ups. This incident only gave an excuse for social media to get at the Manchester United defender, and twitter exploded with some hilarious tweets referring to him.
