The Battle of Georgia, a highly anticipated high school football matchup, had us tuned in. We were almost there! The GHSA 6A state football championship between the Carrollton Trojans and Grayson Rams was scheduled for 7 PM ET. Now, after losing in the Georgia State Championship, Julian Lewis, the quarterback for the Carrollton Trojans, suffered a blow to his high school career. However, it is doubtful that this loss would have a major effect on his chances of starting at Colorado. This is a significant query.

Prior to the job title, Julian Lewis had a stellar season with a 39-3 record as a starter, throwing for 3,465 yards, 46 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. He showed tenacity by playing effectively against Buford in the semifinals, completing 15 of 18 throws for 193 yards and two scores, despite having a hand ailment earlier in the series. Such an inspiring story! However, Lewis and his team got beat by Grayson, 38-24, in the state championship.

Given that Carrollton was vying for its 8th overall championship and hadn’t won a state title since 1998, this was a sad way to cap off Lewis’s HS career. The question now is if it will make it more difficult for him to get a starting spot at Colorado. Not really, according to our prediction. Despite the loss, Lewis’s Colorado career remains bright. He is regarded as a highly talented new employee with a lot of potential. Coach Deion Sanders has drawn comparisons between Lewis and his son, Shedeur Sanders, who has excelled at CU. Look at Lewis’ record and the recognition he has received for it, Deion’s comparison makes sense. Hopefully, that cleared things up about Lewis.

There is still a debate, though, about the Lewis and Shedeur comparison. Is Lewis’ stat superior to Shedeur’s? or anything else, serves as the foundation for this comparison.

The statistical differences across both of them are striking. According to ESPN, Shedeur’s 2024 campaign saw him record 3,926 yards, 35 TDs, and just 8 interceptions, good for a 16th-ranked QBR rating of 78.2. He won Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and a place at the Heisman racing because of those numbers. It will be more fascinating if we level the playing field and compare his Trinity Christian High School statistics. It was a game of narrow margins, as he scored with 3,702 yards and 43 TDs as a senior.

On the other hand, Julian, who is still in high school, has demonstrated comparable effectiveness and genius under duress, demonstrating that when you have football IQ and natural talent, age is just a number. He was named the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year after continuing to have an outstanding sophomore season with 3,094 passing yards and 48 TDs against just 2 interceptions.

The significant distinction? Shedeur has had the opportunity to demonstrate it on a larger platform, but Julian is quickly vying for that attention. Even so, the senior praised the Carrolton High School student, referred to him as “Legendary” on X, and promoted him before handing him the control keys to Boulder. However, it’s about presence more than numbers. With a composed yet assertive manner, Shedeur has guided Buffs to prominence, shattering stereotypes while performing in front of the biggest crowds. Now, it will be the turn of Lewis. Let’s wait and watch.
