The five-star quarterback and current USC commit seems to be flirting with some big names as he explores his options beyond Southern California. Despite his commitment to the Trojans. Julian Lewis, who reclassified from the class of 2026 to 2025, has kept his options open. And the visit to Athens turned a lot of heads among, primarily, USC Trojans. Who will win between Georgia, Colorado and USC in securing a future star? This Love triangle has a new member too it.

Call it a love square. As Georgia’s head coach, Kirby Smart might be the secret sauce that could flip this talented young quarterback from his West Coast commitment. It’s no secret that Georgia has been in hot pursuit of a top quarterback prospect for the 2025 cycle, and Lewis sits high on their wish list. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound standout is ranked as the ninth overall prospect and the second-best quarterback in his class, according to 247Sports.

When Lewis took an unofficial visit to Georgia recently, he had plenty to say about the “great” experience, singling out Smart, Mike Bobo, and Dell McGee for making a memorable impression. Verbally committed to USC, Georgia’s presence looms large. Well, you see, Smart is the deal. The Bulldogs HC’s reputation for developing top-tier talent and fostering a winning culture could very well be a fundamental change in swaying Lewis. Why Kirby Smart? For a quarterback like Julian Lewis. The idea of playing under a head coach who’s led the Bulldogs to two national titles can be enticing. Smart’s focus on defense is legendary, but his eye for quarterback talent and insistence on an offensive evolution has positioned Georgia as a place where quarterbacks aren’t just game managers—they’re playmakers. Last season, the Carrollton Spartans superstar passed for 3,094 passing yards, 48 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Julian Lewis got the MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year for his efforts in 2023. For now, Smart is looking at a future beyond Carson Beck.

Julian Lewis might replace Beck for Kirby Smart at Georgia

As Smart already denied when the question was thrown at him regarding benching current Dawgs QB1 Carson Beck. Their matchup next week against the Vols will be a make-or-break for their CFP hopes. At this point, the whole world is aware of Beck’s struggle to sustain life in Georgia, which is either called the ‘Cavinder curse’ or a Beck problem. There must be a lot of gossiping among high school recruits eyeing his spot.

And while Georgia is eyeing Lewis for the next year, it might be a match already made in heaven. Even though Lewis might already be committed to USC, top programs are fighting for his attention. Each unofficial visit and each handshake from a coach like Smart could have a significant impact on his final decision.
