Well, making a massive win against Lafayette High School with a high-margin score of 27-7, the Kettle Run Cougars are heading towards the state championship for the second time in the school’s history. This surely calls for a celebration and brings emotional memories down the lane, and even Cougars star Jake Mulhern is also not immune to it.

Mulhern is a true triple threat for Kettle Run, excelling in football, basketball, and baseball. And this asset, recently shared a heartfelt note on X saying, “They didn’t look at me and tell me what I can’t do…they welcomed me and gave me the support and opportunity to prove others wrong—awards and winning are great, but playing football with my friends and playing for coaches that appreciate who you are is something that will be a part of me for the rest of my life.” 

There is no doubt that Jake Mulhern’s performance against Lafayette was nothing less than a movie climax. During the game, Mulhern completed 15 out of 23 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns. They almost completely dominated the semifinals. Kettle Run’s game plan was a mix of powerful runs and some amazing passes, and it worked perfectly. They’re now heading to the finals—their dream destination.

The Cougars’ victory against Lafayette showed what actual excellence on the field looks like. Not only was the team in its full form, but it also demonstrated remarkable gameplay. No wonder Jake Mulhern was exceptional, but it’s not like nobody else did anything. Since the start of the game, everyone was in their best form, taking a 6-0 lead over their opponents, and a shocking fact is that their lead jumped to 20-7 by halftime.

Talking about star players, their senior running back, Colton Quaker, rushed for 57 yards with two touchdowns. He even praised Lafayette’s execution but with an attitude after their matchup, saying, “They were good; I am going to give them credit, but it’s definitely not something we haven’t seen before.” Well, what to say?

The offense was the strength of the Cougars’ game; it not only made things easier for them but also helped them enter the championship game with glory. Even Jake Mulhern feels the same as he says, “They’d never seen any team as dominant on offense as us.” The team was continuously suppressing Lafayette’s players’ chances to hold them back, and their star QB, Mulhern, ran the pigskin right under their noses, leaving them in frustration. Now that the team is finally reliving its dream come true moment, let’s hope they keep up the good work for their upcoming game against Liberty Christian Academy. Both teams are still among the undefeated ones, which makes their game even more interesting.
