Time for some reality check for the Colorado Buffaloes fans. Even though Deion Sanders’ program could not make it to the playoffs, Coach Prime knew how to keep the Buffs fans happy. And what’s a better way to satisfy the fans than fulfilling the Mission JuJu? Yes, Deion and Co. were successful in landing Julian Lewis. But there is nothing to be happy about. After all, the 2025 recruiting class in Boulder lacks the oomph factor and the luster. And the fans know that very well.
Like every year, Deion did not leave a stone unturned when it came to bolstering his 2025 recruiting class. The early signing period trended in the right direction for the Buffs fam. As per the reports, already 13 players have signed their letter of intent. This was enough of a moral boost for Deion and Co. As an X user tweeted, “Guys I’m excited about in Colorado’s 2025 Class.” He then came up with a long list of players that are likely to carry Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter’s legacy now that they will be off to the NFL.

“5⭐️ QB- Julian Lewis 4⭐️ IOL- Chauncey Gooden 4⭐️ DE- London Merritt 4⭐️ WR- Adrian Wilson 4⭐️ OT- Carde Smith 3⭐️ DE- Alexander McPherson 5⭐️ WR Quentin Gibson- Just won Texas Offensive MVP in Championship Game,” wrote the user, who turns out to be a Buffs fan. Well, we all know how desperate the Colorado Buffaloes were to land Lewis, right? For the ones who are way too excited for the Carrollton High School phenom to join the Buffs, here comes a big blow!
As Deion’s favorite JuJu thought of graduating high school and gifting a big win to Carrolton High, his plan fell apart. On Wednesday, December 18, Grayson overpowered Carrollton, crushing them with a 38-24 victory in the Georgia Class 6A state football championship game.
A few days back, College Football Network’s analyst Will Helms also raised an alarm for Deion about Lewis. He stated, “he needs to get in the weight room.” Now that’s enough of a wake-up call for Deion as fans too try to take off the blindfolds off the Buffs HC’s eyes.
Fan frustration mounts for Deion Sanders’ 2025 recruiting class
Ever since the beginning, there has been some dilemma on how many stars to assign to Lewis. For instance, Rivals.com lists him as a five-star recruit and the third-best quarterback. On the flip side, as per 247Sports Deion’s new favorite is assigned with a four-star rating and the No.9 quarterback. Now that Lewis failed to grab a win for his high school, a fan rectified the tweet, “4 ⭐️ juilan Lewis u mean 😭😭😭😭.”

Another fan, too, is disturbed by the re-classification that he posted a sarcastic comment stating how college football officials are lenient with Big Ten programs like Deion’s Colorado. He stated, “Don’t they ever re-classify stars after the season… or is that something they just do for SEC teams?”
Remember how a few days back Jake Schwanitz stated, “Being able to really take every single snap or every single meaningful snap this next year, you don’t want to just going…hoping, putting all your chips on JuJu?” Yes, it’s obvious that the Buffs are going to land in a sticky spot if they rely fully on the 17-year-old QB. A fan too pinpointed it: “You will not be good next year! You have no QB.”
Let’s be honest, it wasn’t just Julian Lewis—the online world wasn’t exactly blown away by Deion’s 2025 recruiting class. Looks like Coach Prime has completely lost the fans’ faith, as one of them ended up comparing him to Buffaloes ex-HC Bill McCartney. The fan commented, “Deion Sanders can’t recruit top talent 😂😂😂…Deion Sanders got people in there feelings Deion Sanders back on the road to glory like under Bill McCartney did at Colorado.”

Another X user could already sense the mediocrity that would plague Deion Sanders’ program, as they wrote, “very mediocre class, by the way neither of those guys are 5 stars.” Besides that 4/5-star QB Lewis, the rest of the guys—Gooden, Merritt, Wilson, Gibson, and Smith—are all solid four-star recruits. Does that star rating actually matter in the end? We’ll have to wait and see next year. But Deion better start taking notes and preparing for what’s to come.
