These high school football fans are low-key built different. They don’t just watch the game—they literally live it, breathe it, and will fight anybody over rankings. So, when MaxPreps dropped their final 2024 Top 25 rankings, it was only a matter of time before the comment section turned into a battlefield. This year’s list? A straight-up Georgia parade. Four Georgia schools are in the top 15, and three of them are chilling comfortably in the top 10. That’s got fans from other states salty like McDonald’s fries.
And let’s be real, Georgia’s been on one this year. Milton, at No. 2, is out here undefeated (15-0), averaging over 43 points a game, and flexing a 5A Georgia State Championship win. Senior QB threw for 3,743 yards and 44 touchdowns—he’s been putting dimes all over the field like Santa in December.

No. 7 Grayson Rams? They had a killer season too, shutting down Carrollton in the state championship with 5-star Tyler Atkinson making offenses regret showing up. Speaking of Carrollton, they’re at No. 9, and QB Julian Lewis is already a household name. Buford rounds it out at No. 12, holding it down even with two tough losses. One loss to No.2 ranked Milton Eagles on a season opener by 10-13 & another L in the Semi-finals of 6A Georgia State championship game against the Carrollton football 30-17.
Put some respect on Georgia football, right? The top four teams combined for a 55-4 record this season. That’s insane. But not everyone’s vibing with this Georgia-heavy list. Fans are out here saying the rankings are low-key rigged, calling it favoritism, and accusing MaxPreps of sleeping on other states like Florida and Pennsylvania.
The fans were low-key salty about the Georgia High School rankings on IG
MaxPreps posted their Top 25 rankings on their IG page on December 23rd, and the comments section was pure chaos. It’s like the whole internet pulled up with pitchforks and whatnot. One fan said, “So at the end, 3 GA teams in the top 10, same as last year. Always end up better than what they started.”
Another went off. This fan is throwing subtle shade, basically calling out MaxPreps for always favoring Georgia in the final rankings regardless of how they start the season. “This rankings a joke! Whoever did needs to be ‘FIRED’! St. Joe’s Prep in Pennsylvania does a hat trick winning states, and they ain’t even ranked?? This is so overrated and fake wit favoritism! BIG F’ING JOKE!” Somebody’s really pressed about St. Joe’s Prep getting snubbed. And, honestly, they have a point—St. Joe’s dominated Pennsylvania with a 35-6 win in the state championship. And MaxPreps literally put the 4-loss team in top 13. So it low-key doesn’t do justice, though.
Florida fans were in their feelings too, like, “What happened in Florida 🧐 Looks like a GA takeover.” Florida fans are feeling the heat—literally and figuratively. Honestly, Florida teams didn’t bring it this year. Their IMG dipped to 7-2, and no Florida team cracked the top 10. Meanwhile, Georgia’s schools are out here playing chess while everyone else is on checkers.

Look, the numbers don’t lie—Georgia had a ridiculous season. But fans from other states feel like their teams got snubbed, and that’s fair. St. Joe’s deserved at least a mention, and Florida’s absence in the top 10 is shocking for a state known for football dominance. MaxPreps’ rankings will always stir the pot because high school football fans are passionate like that.
End of the day, Georgia’s squads earned their stripes. Bias or not, this argument ain’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Fans are gonna ride for their teams because that’s just how the game goes. Football is life and these rankings? Just more gas on the fire.
