Kentucky Wildcats have had quite the season so far. This team almost managed to bring Kirby Smart‘s entire empire down to its knees. The defensive giant was struggling to stay on the same level as the Kentucky Wildcats. However, the Dawgs managed to snap a 13-12 win. Fans had thought that after this fiasco, maybe the Wildcats will make it big this season. That didn’t happen. Despite winning against Ohio with a massive 41-8 win and an amazing performance against Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss, none other than the Florida Gators shut the Wildcats down. Imagine that.
While HC Mark Stoops and Co. struggling to find their identity, on the backend, the team is scoring big for their recruitment class. Back on Instagram, Sam Spiegelman noted in a post that the Wildcats have got a new prodigy commitment. “Kentucky scores a commitment from talented TE Mikkel Skinner, who picks the Wildcats over South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio State and more‼️” Spiegelman wrote in the caption of his post.

This is big news for Stoops and Co. Mikkel Skinner hails from Riverside High and has made quite the name for himself. Marked as a 3-star prospect by On3 and a 4-star prospect by 247Sports, Skinner has managed to rack up some amazing stats.
As a junior, playing for Riverside, it was because of Skinner that the team managed to reach South Carolina’s AAAA title game. This kid went 13 rebounds and 5 blocks during the semifinal game and managed to grab the All-Region honor. And it doesn’t stop there. This guy is FAST. Locking in 23 seconds for a 200-meter dash.
His total stats for 2023 stand at 44 passes caught for around 640 yards along with 10 touchdowns under his belt. He has also carried the ball for around 68 times. All of this was accomplished as both WR and RB while playing for Riverside. Adding him to the roster will make the Wildcats offensive line quite strong. We cannot wait to see what this kid manages to get done in the Wildcats offensive line. However, we also cannot wait to see if Mark Stoops has any plans to create a comeback for Kentucky.

Long way down for the Wildcats
With a 3-4 run, the dreams of making the playoffs are off the list for Stoops and Co. However, the Bowl games are still an option. Against the Gators, one major flaw for the Wildcats offense was exposed. The entire passing game was a disaster. Somehow Billy Napier and Co. manage to curb stomp the Wildcats passing game by covering 279 passing yards.
Stoops and Co. on the other hand only managed to reach 165 passing yards. Even the rush game was a disaster. Gators locked in with 197 yards and Wildcats only had 144. If Stoops even wants to have a shot at the bowl games he has to improve that offensive line. The 2 good things that came out of the game were Cormani McClain making his debut and the Gators breaking their 3 losing streak. And he-k this doesn’t even involve the Wildcats in any way.

This Saturday the Wildcats are going up against Auburn. While an optimist fan would say that the team could come out with a win, a realist will know that it won’t be possible. 7 games and Auburn have only allowed 118 rushing yards. If you take that and pair it with the already disastrous Kentucky offense, Stoops and Co. stand no chance. Still, we gonna wait and find out what happens.
