Get ready for some Friday night lights drama, as Kirk Herbstreit’s son is taking the field. And he’s ready to prove that he’s more than just a football legacy. It’s a classic underdog story—a chance to shine on his own terms and show the world he’s got the skills to make it big, no matter who his dad is. Well, with skills as sharp as a Ginsu knife and moves as smooth as butter, this young athlete is on the brink of transforming the field into his own personal highlight reel. Naturally, Herbstreit’s pride is as resounding as the roar of a stadium crowd, and it’s difficult to find fault with his enthusiasm.

You know you did something out of the box when your father takes a moment to praise you, and the same is the situation with Herbstreit’s son, Chase Herbstreit, who recently completed a milestone in his high school career. And Kirk didn’t let it slide without hyping his son up. On December 3rd, he took to Instagram to celebrate his son Chase’s senior year. He reposted Chase’s post, where the young athlete said, “Wouldn’t have traded it for the world. Thank you Bomber football for an incredible four years. Onto the next chapter.” Kirk couldn’t contain his excitement, sharing Chase’s season highlights and gushing, “Congrats on a great senior year. Chase’s season highlights.” He even shared a link to Chase’s Hudl page, giving everyone a chance to see the young star in action.

However, why wouldn’t Kirk Herbstreit be proud of his son, as he is one of the remarkable quarterbacks of St. Xavier’s High School? Don’t get surprised to know that Chase Herbstreit moved from Nashville to Cincinnati as a ninth grader, but since then he has taken up the whole charge of Xavier’s starting quarterback position and also led the team through two wins in its final two games and also a victory in the first round of the state playoffs as a sophomore player. Kirk has always supported him, even when Chase was going through a tough time with his gameplay.

Kirk Herbstreit giving absolute father goals

Now that Chase Herbstreit is going to move to college football next year, this is going to be the last time his father and ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit sees him play at the high school level. And as we say, first and last are always special, and this is exactly what happened in Xavier’s game against Archbishop Moeller last week. Both Ohio’s Powerhouse teams went up against each other and showed how a rivalry game is supposed to be played. Even though Chase’s team couldn’t win the game, his father didn’t lose hope in his gameplay and appreciated his and the entire team’s efforts after the game.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Chase Herbstreit carve his own legacy, or will he always be in his father's shadow?

Have an interesting take?

Well, even though Chase and the Xaviers ultimately fell by a final score of 28-23 against Moeller, they didn’t fail to get the much-needed admiration from Kirk Herbstreit, as he said, “SO PROUD of this @StXFB team. Once again, you guys left everything you had out on the field. It’s been an absolute honor watching this program up close over the last 4 years. Such a brotherhood. Hold your heads up high; play your hearts out.” It was really a game to remember, and with Chase moving ahead on his journey, it will be interesting to see which team he finally chooses to play with or if he already has any favorites because of his father.
