Colorado Buffaloes will bounce back from a bowl game loss. But they have to do it without their star QB pair, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Deion’s esteemed sons and the widely celebrated two-way star have played their last game for the Colorado Buffs in the Alamo Bowl. It’s time to pass the torch. Questions and doubts swirl over the realm: can Sanders do it without his kids? Well, it’s no doubt tough to let go of your best talents in the house, but every end marks a new beginning. For the Buffs, Coach Sanders did a stupendous job in the portal and stacked up his roster with some big, reliable names.

No, it’s not just five-star quarterback Julian Lewis, we are having our eyes on. He is slated to be an asset, no debate on that, but in case Lewis fails to live up, Sanders has his hands full.

As the transfer portal continues to blaze, Liberty Flames transfer Kaidon Salter committed to the Buffs, and guess what we smell? Another competition over the starting QB spot in Buffs camp. The idea might seem to be a little farfetched, but it is there. With one season of college eligibility remaining, the veteran signal-caller could be a bridge quarterback to Julian “JuJu” Lewis. Naturally, if Coach Prime has added you to the roster, you are bound to be special. One analyst lays out Salter’s career so far.

‘At number 11, we have Kaidon Salter. After being a four-star recruit coming out of Cedar Hill, Texas, Salter tried to go to Tennessee but ended up getting kicked out of school and going to Liberty. During his couple of seasons in Liberty, Salter went crazy,” analyst Scott Fisher said.

What does Fisher mean by ‘crazy’ here? Well, let us take you through it. Playing for the Flames, Kaidon Salter accumulated 5,887 passing yards, including 56 touchdowns. That is crazy. Especially in 2023, when he went for nearly 3,000 yards and 32 touchdowns. Well, if we believe Fisher,  Salter may start “for Coach Prime if Juju Lewis isn’t ready.”

With the Flames, Salter put together several honors and titles at the Group of Five level. His huge arms, giant legs and a storied resume will bring a mammoth arsenal to a fresh Colorado camp. On the flip, Lewis, the prized class of 2025 signee, is likely to bring a lot of talent and early Heisman energy to the table.

Will Kaidon Salter outshine Julian Lewis in the Buffs' QB battle, or is JuJu the future?

Have an interesting take?

Now the question is. Who will be the top priority for the Buffs? The seasoned vet or the supremely talented freshman? Fisher put the doubt to rest. ”I expect both of those guys to compete for that starting job, and Coach Prime will make a decision.”

But no matter what the future holds, two standout recruits seem to go hand in hand, as seen in the practice.

Deion Sanders has transformed Colorado from one of the most routed programs in the CFB to one of the most esteemed ones in just two seasons. Colorado managed to win nine games, the most since a 10-win season in 2016. A 9-4 might look timid when compared to his first year’s 8-2, but Coach Prime is ready to get there.

Despite the rampant NFL rumor, the veteran coach will possibly not go anywhere before taking his team to a towering high. He has one crucial year at hand. The program has immense momentum. With Shedeur and Hunter missing, there needs to be just some good QB plays, and the job is half done. It seems his transfer portal move clicks right on the spot as both Julian Lewis and Kaidon Salter are ready to embark on a healthy, fulfilling competition.

Kaidon Salter deemed his competition with JuJu as nice. He said it would actually take him back to his freshman era, where he had to manage a lot of pressure on him. He understands’ Juju’s strive as a novice kid and looks to create a formidable alliance with him down the road.
