College football’s regular season is almost over, but the high school gridiron is still heating up! This weekend, Detroit is the center stage for some epic high school championship battles. Starting Friday morning and ending Saturday night at Ford Field, the MHSAA will host eight separate state football title games during the weekend. According to Fox17’s sports director, West Michigan appears to be dominating the state championship week.

Thomas Cook is hyped for the high school football state championships! Three West Michigan teams—Zeeland West, Byron Center, and Hudsonville—are heading to Ford Field to battle it out. He posted a video on X on November 30th, saying, “Now it’s time for the high school football state championships. Three West Michigan teams making the trip east through Ford Field, Byron Center tonight in Division Two, Zeeland West tomorrow, and Hudsonville Division One, pass off all eight championships.”

The Division 1 game between Hudsonville (12-1) and Detroit Cass Tech (11-2) is scheduled for November 30 at 7:00 p.m., while the Division 3 game between Zeeland West (12-1) and Detroit’s Martin Luther King (10-3) will take place at Ford Field at 12:30 p.m. on the same day. And today’s Division 2 team, Byron Center’s, game takes place against Orchard Lake St. Mary.

Ahead of the game, Thomas stated, “You can see the Byron Center fans filing in, making the trip over from a snowy West Michigan to Ford’s field. Should be a fun one tonight. Bryon Center, just one loss all year. They’ve been rolling ever since October. Lost the Monroe St Mary CC shorts earlier in the season. Meet them in the playoffs. Beatty Slanting, who knocked them out in the playoffs last year. Now they’re at Ford Field; take on Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, a traditional powerhouse back at Ford Field, once again.

Look at the exciting game of the West Michigan team 

The Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Eaglets clinched the Michigan High School Division 2 win with a 35-19 victory over Byron Center. A crucial moment in the game came when linebacker Ryan Harrington sacked Byron Center QB Landon Tungate, forcing a fumble that was recovered by Kyrie Williams. St. Mary’s capitalized on the turnover, with Michigan State commit Bryson Barnes scoring on a reverse play.

Shortly in the 2nd half, St. Mary’s led 21-13 thanks to a goal from Williams. With this win, St. Mary’s secured their seventh state championship. And this is their first NCAA title since 2016 thanks to the fumble and TD, which gave them a chance to win. Well, now let’s wait and see how Zeeland West and Hudsonville will fare in their state championship games tomorrow.
