When it comes to Texas football, Randy Jackson is a well-known figure, evoking memories of Friday night lights. However, coaching in Germany presents a whole new challenge. Just imagine implementing strategies in a country where soccer reigns supreme on every field and in every schedule. Jackson, armed with his innovative “Fast N’ Wide” offensive style, found himself facing unexpected cultural obstacles that could make even the most composed coach break a sweat. Adding a touch of humor to his determination, Jackson remarked, “Over there, football lines are tan, and soccer lines are white.”

Well, despite having a role coaching the Texas high school for 31 years, Randy Jackson also has to face the circumstances of soccer dominance in Germany while serving as an offensive coordinator for the Potsdam Royals team. Yes, you heard that right. One such incident that Jackson mentions on the November 25th Beyond the Lights: Football Across Texas podcast is a perfect depiction of his experience.

“I mean, we don’t have our own stadium. We want to practice the area we used in the GFL, like we’re in the top league of German football. And one day we got kicked out of practice because a 16-above inner 16-above soccer league had the field. They thought they had it reserved, and not us. So it is. I’ve learned when we played on one artificial turf field,” Coach Jackson said. Well, just imagine that even after taking the team’s offense to 50 points per game, which also made them Europe’s first team to average more than 50 points, this is what he gets.

It is no wonder that Randy Jackson gained a lot of experience at the Potsdam Royals, which taught him about the different perspectives that different nations hold for a single game. His presence on the team not only elevated them to new heights but also gave him fresh motivation to make his second inning worthwhile.

Not everyone possesses the ability to simultaneously excel in two distinct careers. There is often a belief that once you find recognition in one area, you become trapped in a repetitive cycle. However, true legends are those who break free from this pattern and venture into entirely new territories, making the most of every opportunity. Deion Sanders is a prime example of such a figure in the CFB world. Despite his role as head coach for the Buffs, he also engages in brand deals with Nike and maintains numerous partnerships. Despite all his commitments, he continues to deliver outstanding work. So, is Randy Jackson on a similar path?

Jackson is not just a coach but also a writer of the international best-selling book’ ‘A Royal Season’. This book got this recognition not because Coach Jackson is a big name in football but for his storyline, which connects responses directly with the process of how one becomes a player and author too. It navigates through the recruitment process, preseason and postseason meetups, and whatnot. Moreover, Randy Jackson is also a certified mental performance coach and a keynote speaker. It looks like someone got the whole package. It’s really inspiring to witness someone giving it all back from where he received everything.
