The Ole Miss Rebels have finally achieved a significant victory, although not on the field but in the recruiting battle against Alabama. Their recent triumph of 28-10 against the Georgia Bulldogs has showcased the team’s capabilities both on and off the field, thanks to Lane Kiffin’s leadership. This led to the successful acquisition of five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, and Kiffin is undoubtedly on cloud nine. But even Caleb is not leaving any chance to rub off his intentions behind the move right into Alabama’s face.
On November 14, recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett posted a flip announcement of Choctaw County’s player, Caleb Cunningham, who had been committed to Bama since July and recently switched to Ole Miss. However, what caught everyone’s attention was Caleb’s comment on the same post revealing the reason behind his decision, saying, “Home is Home!” It looks like Cunningham is more than excited to be a part of Kiffin’s program.

Yet, considering Alabama’s national championship pedigree and elite program, Caleb Cunningham’s move is quite surprising. Also, considering the fact that Kalen DeBoer and Bama do give equal opportunity to young players like Ryan Williams to showcase their talent, Caleb should have given it a second thought. However, Lane Kiffin’s efforts overpowered every reason that could stop him from getting Cunningham into the program.
What forced Caleb Cunningham to switch his vows?
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is one of the sole reasons behind Caleb Cunningham’s inclination toward the team. Since the start of the season, the young wide receiver has been under their radar, as Caleb was at the Rebels’ campus for their season-opener game against the Furman. He even followed up that visit by going to their game against Oklahoma. Which made his intentions of looking for a better option pretty clear. But man, if Lane Kiffin had left a single chance to make Cunningham feel wanted. A few days back, Caleb and Kiffin’s meetup video went viral where both were in cars and in a very subtle yet funny way, Kiffin asked him to join Mississippi in return for dropping him off at his desired location.
That’s not the only thing Lane Kiffin did to gain Caleb Cunningham’s trust. While talking about his sudden switch to Ole Miss from Bama, Caleb highlighted a lesser-known fact, saying, “They are also telling me I could start as a freshman.” Nothing attracts a true freshman more than the greed of starting their CFB career by just joining the program, and it was very smart of Lane Kiffin to focus on that part. Now that the Ole Miss Rebels finally have Caleb Cunningham by their side, let’s see if he could make any difference with his presence or if it turns out to be the worst decision of Kiffin’s life.
