The transition from high school to college football has been a gliding mystery. The process includes a lot of thinking, rethinking, and critical evaluation of all the pros and cons. Chris Henry Jr., the esteemed blood of former Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry, left Cincinnati earlier this year to finish high school at Mater Dei in California. Last July, he picked Ohio State over 30 other schools, mainly because he’s a huge fan of WR coach Brian Hartline. But don’t think other top programs have slept on him. LSU fans still want to push him toward the $900 million school.

Since taking off the Withrow High School Tiger uniform, the 6-foot-6 giant athlete has been billed as No. 1 in the 2026 ESPN Jr. 300 and the overall No. 3 football recruit in the nation for the class of 2026. His insane speed, on-point coordination, and supreme athleticism are a strong testament to the blueblood genes he is made of. But Ryan Day couldn’t just sit back and relax ever since the prodigy officially stepped into Columbus.

Henry didn’t stop exploring the stupendous demand he had over the schools. He scheduled visits to top-tier programs like Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, and more. But the premium WR had some hiccups this year that momentarily stumbled his progression and the urge to roll more into the excellence.

In early October, Henry Jr. broke an upset news, suggesting he would miss the remainder of the 2024 season with a grave knee injury. However, now, as he mostly recovered, schools again started to pursue their big recruiting win over the Buckeyes. Henry told 247Sports that his commitment to the Buckeyes is a lock in and he is not changing his mind.

In a recent insider interview, the kid capitalized on his promise and noted how WR coach Brian Hartline left an ineluctable impression on him. ”I choose Ohio State because of the development of my position. Nobody is better than coach Hartline at what he does.”

Over the last three drafts, the Buckeyes have produced four first-round receivers—Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Harrison. No other college program has matched that feat. With Hartline overseeing the offensive coaching, the tradition of producing top-tier talent remains strong. Chris Henry Jr. notes, “What stands out to me about Ohio State is the consistent first-round receivers that have been produced there. The tradition is different for sure.”

But is there a school with a better receiving corps? Well, the internet chimes in! LSU fans took the firm mindset to heart and tried their best to convince the 5-star WR to come to Louisiana.

LSU fans urged Chris Henry Jr to build a WR legacy with the Tigers

LSU has been one of the prime schools that has its eyes on the current high school sensation, the top wide receiver of California. The Tigers extended him an offer back in March. LSU wide receiver coach Cortez Hangton has been on the pivot of the recruiting streak and expressed significant interest in swooping Henry. Offensive coordinator Joe Sloan took a step ahead and jetted off to California to scout the prized 2026 class recruit.

Well, LSU had a storied history of producing legendary receivers. And fans couldn’t wait to see Henry becoming the next. ”Come home to WRU! LSU!,” wrote a user in the comments. ”LSU push out best receivers, my boy. Ohio State gone be good in the pros but not special like LSU doe, no hate, all luv,” another fan dismissed his compliment toward Brian Hartline and the OSU coaching and asked to wake up on who the real boss is.

In the modern era of NFL and college football, passing attacks rule the roost, making wide receiver a super popular position. Teams that already have their A-lister QBs look to pair them up with a high-flying lead receiver, and you can’t beat LSU in that game. They are the unequivocal WRU at present. ”If u wanna be real, them LSU boys better😂,”  fans rightfully seem high on getting Henry on the team for the Tigers and for the athlete’s overall brighter future.

You can look at Odell Beckham Jr., the Miami Dolphins beating heart, or DJ Chark (Los Angeles Chargers) to judge the collective claims of the LSU fans: ”The only other school you’d wanna go to is LSU for WR development. If he flips there that’s the only logical thing.”

It remains to be seen whether the earnest plea changes Chris Henry’s mind and makes him settle outside of Columbus or not.
