Deion Sanders just dropped a bombshell in Colorado’s QB race! By bringing in Kaidon Salter, he’s basically telling JuJu that this isn’t a cakewalk anymore. Is the clear path to the starting job no longer an easy route? It seems like now it’s more of a fierce battle. Salter brings both experience and mobility, making it evident that Julian has to work hard to earn it. And Sanders isn’t rolling the dice on a freshman, as he’s assembling a strong team. The quarterback competition has transformed from being chill to intense. Who’s going to step up?

This move has taken the whole internet through a rally. Deion Sanders has secured a significant victory by acquiring Kaidon Salter, who transferred from Liberty to Colorado. It is hard to overlook a quarterback with such immense talent. Sater, a highly sought-after player who briefly played for Tennessee, performed well at Liberty and amassed 1,000 passing yards and 15 touchdowns, in addition to 500 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground last season for them. Even JD PicKell on On3 is highly enthusiastic about this, labeling it as a game-changing move, but what about Julian Lewis?

Well, it was quite evident that Deion Sanders might not put all his trust in a freshman, but then what’s with Shdeur Sanders passing on the keys to Julian? Looks like a good drama show put up for the fans. Even Pickell highlights the same thing with a hard-hitting reality check. “Yeah, the passing of the keys recruiting picture optically is a little bit tough, but I think Julian Lewis obviously understood that wherever I go—whether it be USC, Colorado, or somewhere else—I’m going to have to compete for my job throughout the course of fall camp and so on and so forth and be the dude. So, Kaidon Salter is coming in, obviously played a lot of football, and you’ve got to win that job.”

That’s a straight fact, though. As PicKell puts it, “just great insurance.” Deion Sanders is smart—he’s not putting all his eggs in one basket by relying solely on a freshman quarterback. It’s rare to see a team do that. Just look at Nebraska’s condition with Dylan Raiola; even after being bowl-eligible this season, Raiola has to go through a series of backlashes. Now there is a chance that Coach Prime is trying to avoid such a situation for his team and save JuJu from future misery.

A hard blow to Julian Lewis’ hopes

What’s your perspective on:

Can Julian Lewis rise to the challenge, or will Kaidon Salter steal the spotlight at Colorado?

Have an interesting take?

People initially expected Julian Lewis to effortlessly secure the starting QB position at Colorado. However, with the arrival of Kaidon Salter, things have changed. The competition for the QB role has intensified, and Lewis now has to battle for his spot. As even DNVR Sports’ Jake Schwanitz said, “Being able to really take every single snap or every single meaningful snap next year, you don’t want to just be going…putting all your chips on JuJu.” So even with all the hype, JuJu still has to earn it.

Honestly, this might be a blessing in disguise. Take, for instance, his recent game against Grayson, where he made costly mistakes like interceptions and a fumble. The trolls were quick to criticize him. If he were to make similar errors in CFB, the backlash would be severe. It’s better for him to face the pressure now rather than later.

Well, it’s not the end of the world for Julian Lewis; there is still plenty of time left for him to prove his worth. And Kaidon Salter’s arrival doesn’t automatically mean he’ll be the starter. The quarterback competition is still wide open. This extra competition will only push JuJu to be better. And if he rises to the challenge, he could still be the future of Colorado. Let’s see how he steps up!
