Being blind did not stop the high school quarterback Bracy Jr. from dreaming big. In spite of losing his eyesight, his passion for the game did not get dimmed. As Friday, November 1, marked his last game in college he is already preparing for his next big step. However, things have not been so easy for the young quarterback. What started off as a youth league gradually grew to high school varsity. But there came many roadblocks in between.
At the age of one, Bracy Jr. was diagnosed with retinal cancer and soon lost his complete vision by the time he turned seven. Now 18, he joined the youth league three years back and now his goal as he said is “to keep going.” However, it would not have been possible without his father, Bracy Sr.’s immense help.
The father-son duo had to fight to use a walkie-talkie tool to constantly communicate with the player. As the proud father shared, “I had to really explain to them that all I’m doing is trying to tell him so that he can paint a mental picture of what every other kid is seeing out there on the field.” And guess what? The father’s efforts did pay off well as Bracy Jr. is all confident about moving into the next chapter.
