Ubisoft has tickled multiple fandoms with the next installment in the Far Cry series. Far Cry 6 is, right now, one of the most talked-about video games and with good reason. The sixth installment of the much-loved video game franchise surely upped its ante with Giancarlo “Gus Fring” Esposito playing the antagonist. Esposito plays Anton Catillo, the dictator of the fictional island country of Yara.

The trailer shows the dynamic of the relationship between Anton and his son, as well as Anton’s philosophy of dictatorship amidst the civil uprising against his reign.
In an interview with Variety, the Breaking Bad star talked about his experiences while working with the game and how much he loved doing it.
The Breaking Bad star talks about Far Cry 6
This is not the first time Esposito is starring in a video game. Payday 2 players will remember him as “The Dentist.” Although he has worked in a video game before, it was not on a scale as large as playing Castillo.

Esposito worked using motion capture for Far Cry 6 without real-life props and settings. According to him, it did pose one of the major challenges for him.
“The challenges are to create that world virtually within your own imagination. That, to me, was the greatest challenge.”

It is hard to miss that his character in Far Cry 6 is reminiscent of his iconic character Gus Fring. His demeanor and stature, the icy ruthlessness he conveys through his voice, everything reminds us why we absolutely love (and fear) this man’s on-screen presence. While talking about his character Anton Castillo, Esposito says
“We meet him at a time where he’s trying to empower his son to take up his mantle and really embrace ideas that would allow him to see that soon he will probably be the next leader in this country.”
Castillo is a complex character and had his own share of a bad childhood. He was born to a dictator and was enslaved as a child. “Although being born with a silver spoon in his mouth, was unable to rule until the revolutionaries that ousted his father were put away,” Esposito says. So we can assume that father-son chemistry in the Castillo family is something of a vicious cycle of aspirations handed down from generation to generation.

Esposito would like to remain a part of the franchise
Being associated with a video game franchise as popular as Far Cry, Esposito is now at the center of multiple fandoms, including Star Wars. Even though video games are a relatively new medium for him, he has expressed his desire, albeit jokingly, to remain a part of the Far Cry franchise.
“Yes, the answer is yes, as long as I could do the next two or three ‘Far Cry’ games, to get real specific… I’m a chameleon. I’ll do whatever I have to do to convince you that I’m some other character in a ‘Far Cry’ game if need be, and maybe he should be the good guy next time ‘cause I’m really kind of sweet and lovable.”
