24-year-old Austin Williams will have the first major test of his 2-year-long professional career, as he steps against Denis Douglin in a middleweight scrap on March 13. Boasting 6 KOs in 7 wins, Williams is still undefeated. However, several fans continue to doubt his worth against the top-rated middleweights.
That said, Austin Williams envisions his upcoming fight against Douglin to be his ticket to the elite section. Although he has his respect for Douglin, Williams still appeared optimistic about bagging a win via knockout.

Before the fight, he connected with the fans in the official press conference and reflected the importance of the contest in his boxing career.
“He is a blessing, I know a lot of time the fighters, they act like you know we are super enemies and stuff like that. But honestly, he (Denis Douglin) is a blessing for taking this fight. He is a gateway for me to be a world champion contender seriously. You can’t argue that I am not ready for the real guys after I fight him,” said ‘Ammo’.
The middleweight division has some serious threats, and it can still be a bit early for Williams to go for the A-listers. However, Douglin is a reputed pugilist, and defeating him can actually validate the youngster’s entrance amongst the top-rated ones.
Previewing his future, Austin Williams continued, “If I beat him when I knock him out, what are people gonna say? ‘Ammo’ needs another 10 fights? 5 fights? No. They are gonna say, ‘he took the risk, that jump, he got the fight and he is ready for the next step’.”
