The 24-year-old player stated, “Hi everyone. I have some bad news. I arrived in St. Petersburg and tested positive for COVID-19. Right now I’m in complete isolation and following all the protocols. St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy is one of my favorite tournaments. It’s a pity to miss it. But most important is to take care of yourself and others.”
Kasatkina competed in the Australian Open this year and came as far as the third round. The Russian player lost to 2020 French Open winner Iga Swiatek. However, she had a good season last year, winning two titles on the WTA Circuit.
