Rafael Nadal is now free from his quarantine in Australia. Prior to the Australian Open 2021, Rafa Nadal will play the ATP Cup representing Spain. He is excited about Spain’s chances and believes they have a strong team this year.

There is a good supporting cast to Nadal in the Spanish armada. The World No.2 is joined by Roberto Bautista Agut and Pablo Carreno Busta. In a recent press conference, Rafa revealed that his team is fired up.

So, let’s see what the captain decides and how the circumstances evolve during the next couple of days.”

Rafael Nadal looking at a positive phase ahead of ATP Cup 2021

After his quarantine, Nadal played an exhibition event, ‘A Day at the Drive’ in Adelaide, Australia, alongside Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem, etc. The stadium was packed with 4000 spectators, and now Nadal expects a great show at the ATP Cup as well.

“It was very nice to play the exhibition in front of the public and feel a bit of that reality to which we were accustomed. Australia took measures and has made great efforts to celebrate these events and receive people.” Nadal said. (Quotes translated from Spanish via Google).

The ATP Cup acts as a warm-up to the Australian Open 2021. For now, Nadal will face the likes of Alex De Minaur and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the group stage of the event.

“Finally, it’s time to talk about tennis. We are in a special situation and we hope we can be a great entertainment for the fans in this difficult times. We will try to do our best,” Nadal added.

Nadal’s Spain is probably the second favorite to clinch the ATP Cup behind Russia, which has the likes of Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev boosting the team. The ATP Cup spectacle begins on February 2.
