“YouTube is my best friend,” declared Bubba Wallace all those months ago. As he described it, “I’ve been miserable for years, walking around with a persona that I’m not proud of. I need to apologize to a lot of people.” His outspoken nature didn’t help his impression on social media, did it? And so it was. Wallace, a driver who championed political efforts in 2020 on social media platforms, decided against using them.
“Just being caught up in other people’s lives, and just start comparing, like, ‘Man, I want…’ it’s just, aside from the toxic comments, social media is just a lot at times. I do miss the photography side of it, you know, posting all of that stuff. But it’s just way better for the mentals,” he explained at the time. At the time, it made sense. He wasn’t getting the right kind of performances on race weekends.
Pressure to show his bosses at 23XI his worth and get that new contract meant that what he saw in the media would affect him. Cut to 2025, and it’s a different Bubba we see today. As a new father and a driver rearing to go, he’s shown his worth in the Cup Series, with a win at the Daytona Duels and back-to-back third-place finishes at Homestead-Miami and Martinsville. It seems the Bubba Wallace of old is peaking from behind the curtain.

Well, it certainly looks that way, especially after Wallace made a cheeky reference on his social media account. While he still doesn’t use his account as much, he threw a small crumb for fans to nibble on when the driver uploaded a picture of Mount Rushmore. But hang on, it wasn’t just Mount Rushmore, was it? There was something different about it. It featured NASCAR legends Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt Sr., Jimmie Johnson, and Bubba Wallace as the surprise guest among them!
The update left fans puzzled, but it wasn’t unlike Wallace to engage in banter on X. Just a few days ago, when there was a graphic that read, “Bubba Wallace leads the series in percentage of laps run in the Top 3 and Top 5 to start the season,” Bubba Wallace didn’t miss a beat and replied to it with, “He sucks!”

This new side of Wallace is a result of becoming a father. As he explained earlier in the season, “I say this in the most positive way but, ‘Nothing else matters anymore’. Besides being a great father, being a great husband, just a family man. With the demands that our sport provides… you have to find the little joys in it.” And it has reflected in his performances on the track as well. Finishing in the top three is one thing, but Wallace has also succeeded in breaking into the top 10 during qualifying. “I don’t know why, but… we finished third the last two weeks. So, I’m gonna hope they keep coming.”
For now, fans and haters alike were taken aback by Wallace’s update on X, but it looks like they can’t help but appreciate the joke the 23XI driver delivered.

Bubba Wallace wins over fans with X update
Once famous for making posts across social media, Wallace’s sudden departure from the platforms after the Pocono race last year was a shock for many fans. However, he hasn’t lost his sense of humor. One fan reflected this sentiment when they wrote, “I don’t think it’s even posted by him, he’s said before he doesn’t run his socials. But I’m sure it was passed by and approved by him. I think his guy Niko does all his socials.”

Why was it clear it was Bubba approving it? Well, just a few days ago, Wallace uploaded a video titled ’72 Hours in Miami’ to YouTube. Posting about it on X, he took a jab at his friend Ryan Blaney and wrote, “When @Blaney makes your kid cry, you tweet about it. New Miami YouTube vlog out now link in bio.” That’s why another fan, reacting to the Rushmore update, wrote, “Genuinely cackled, Bubba is a hilarious dude 😂😂.”
But it seems Wallace isn’t alone when it comes to funny drivers in the paddock. Carson Hocevar is one of his competitors, and one fan agrees. “Bubba and Hocevar – the current kings of internet trolling.” They wouldn’t be wrong. When Hocevar finished second at Atlanta after some aggressive driving, he faced some criticism from Ryan Blaney and Ross Chastain. His response was simple and cheeky enough to make fans laugh. “I finished second. We’re here to win races, not be a boy band and love each other and play on the playground together. Uhh, they just wanted to know the new triple-dipper menu at Chili’s, so we’re gonna meet up there later and discuss.”
And while most fans were focused on Wallace’s humor, there was one who kept the banter going. Present were three NASCAR legends, all with seven Cup Series championships to their name. That’s when one fan wondered how the fourth winningest driver, Jeff Gordon, had a beard, referring to Bubba Wallace in the image. “Not a Bubba fan, but that’s funny. My only qualm is that Jeff Gordon never had a beard,” they wrote.
